Disabled veterans should not have to use their Disability Compensation as income for child support. They are provided with money for the children on top of their compensation. The money for the children should be all they get for child support. The rest of the income is for the Veteran. According to the Library of Congress and the Congressional record, veteran’s disability compensation is meant to financially assist a person disabled in the line of duty and to help them live a whole and productive life. They cannot do this when half of income goes to child support.VA disability compensation is awarded tax-free to a veteran injured in combat, or in the line of duty.
