VETO Any Bill Presented by Congress Allowing SNAP and EBT Benefits to Be Used at Restaurants and for Prepared Food

Created by V.G. on March 19, 2013

Restaurant groups and supermarkets are currently lobbying Congress to allow EBT and SNAP participants to use their benefits at restaurants (including fast food restaurants like Subway and McDonalds) and for prepared foods like meals prepared by grocery stores. To allow this would be to sanction both poor nutrition choices and also a less efficient use of public benefits. This movement would enrich restaurant owners while increasing hunger in the long run by discouraging more economical food choices.
