Veto any bill proposed by Congress that cuts funding for Americorps programs/ends SNAP benefits for Americorps

Created by T.S. on December 07, 2012

Americorps is a federally funded program that works toward social justice by hiring long term volunteers who commit a year of their life to help combat issues regarding educational disparity, hunger, poverty housing, ex-offender re-entry, disaster relief etc. The individuals in this program receive a minimal living allowance that amounts to around 800 dollars a month after taxes, which is hardly enough to live on. Americorps work AT LEAST 40 hours a week tackling the toughest issues facing our country. Nonprofits and the government alike benefit from this program because it is a cost effective way to combat social problems in afflicted communities. Members of Congress are trying to cut the Americorps program and end Americorps SNAP benefits that are necessary to survive.Veto these efforts!
