We want to give subsidies to farmers to help sustain their operations, not to line the pockets of fat cats. The current program is reprehensible. We can't guarantee profits to millionaires, paid for by the blood, sweat, and tears of families making 99,000 per year. The intent of Ag programs has usually been to create a safety net so farmers wouldn't go under during adverse conditions. There are thousand's of farmer's with net worth's exceeding three million dollars who currently receive subsidies. The common sense approach is to find the break even point, and set the floor at that level. If prices fall below the BEP considering average yield the government makes up the difference. If they use prices that are proposed in the new farm bill, it will cause inflation and rob everyday taxpayers
