Bill H.R. 287 would be highly destructive to the American video game market, as indie games without ESRB certification, many mobile apps, foreign games under the CERO or PEGI certification, and titles/consoles that predate the ESRB rating system would be made illegal to sell, rent, or distribute with the passing of this bill.
ESRB certifications are prohibitively expensive for people other than major publishers. The passing of this bill could have outrageous effects on the gaming industry and anyone chasing a career in game design.
