Veto legislation that suspends habeas corpus.

Created by E.K. on November 30, 2011

The National Defense Authorization Act contains provisions that would allow for US Citizens to be captured by the military on US soil and detained indefinitely without specific charges, appeals, or the ability to confront witnesses against them. This is an unconstitutional suspension of habeas corpus at a time where there is no ongoing insurrection or invasion.

Should such provisions remain in the act or in any other legislation reaching your desk, we urge you to veto it.
