H.R. 6671: Video Privacy Protection Act Amendments Act of 2012 amends the 1988 Video Privacy Protection Act, which prevents companies from releasing their customer's sales or rental history to other parties. This amendment will enable companies that stream rental content to aggregate and sell customer viewing history to third parties. This is an undue invasion of privacy, as there are no guarantees of anonymity for consumers. We call for a veto of this amendment to the VPPA to protect consumers who are unaware that their private viewing habits can be tracked and monitored by future third parties without their informed consent.
