We the people of the United States of America hereby condemn the passage of the Senate Bill S.1867, or the National Defense Authorization Act. This bill, regardless of its intentions, leaves an open ended, underclarified policy on the indefinite detention of American citizens by the US military.
Because intentions do not and almost certainly will not govern the actual interpretations of this bill, S.1867 is granting clearly unconstitutional power to the federal government to seize and detain US citizens indefinitely without cause. As such, we demand that President Obama immediately veto S.1867, or the National Defense Authorization Act.
