The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), E-PARASITE (Enforcing and Protecting American Rights Against Sites Intent on Theft and Exploitation) Act, and PROTECT IP Act, (Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act of 2011), all pose fundamental threats to the free and open system of the internet now in place.
While piracy is a problem for many businesses, these pieces of legislation represent an extreme solution that would unnecessarily censor the internet and impinge upon free expression. It will impose unnecessary burdens on new web businesses and impede technological growth and innovation.
We demand that if any of these bills (OR any other bills similar in substance) are passed by the Senate and House, President Obama immediately veto them.
