The SOPA and PIPA legislation before congress is both misguided and harmful. If enacted, these bills would move the United States away from a free and democratic state and closer to that of China, where the citizen's free access to the Internet is restricted and controlled by the government.
The US government should punish those who violate the law, not enact sweeping legislation that removes individual liberty and privacy. These bills are a dubious view into increased governmental control akin to what's present in many Asian and European countries today.
