Veto the Stop Online Piracy Act if it passes the House and Senate.

Created by M.B. on November 16, 2011

The Stop Online Piracy Act is a bill which threatens the very fabric of the Internet as we know it today. Basically this bill allows corporations and the government to block Americans' access to sites which are found to be infringing copyright laws. While most of the entertainment industry supports this bill, it will help to destroy social networking sites and will affect every aspect of Internet surfing. SOPA also makes streaming copyrighted content without permission a felony, but the terms of the bill are so vague that something as simple as singing a pop song and posting it to Youtube could earn you a lawsuit. Also, small businesses could end up being shut down even if they do not violate copyright laws. This bill debases the First Amendment and needs to be stopped
