View State secession petitions as a form of expression of "Freedom of Speech", as provided by the U.S. Constitution.

Created by W.S. on November 13, 2012

I recently viewed a petition requesting that anyone who signs a petition for their State to "Peaceably secede from the United States and for a new State government" to be "Stripped of Citizenship and exiled/deported".

This is a very troubling, as none of these petitions come from any of the States in question, nor have ANY of these States postured themselves as supporting the act of secession from the United States.

These are trying times for a lot of people and they are expressing themselves in the way the see is best that suits them. These petitions are merely an expression of Free Speech, and should NOT be addressed with repercussions of ANY form.

To punish Freedom of Speech is absolutely repugnant and repulsive.
