vigorously embrace Keynesian economics. We aren't a family on a budget: deficit spending solved the great depression!

President Hoover's mistakes (and FDR's successes) taught us that the way to fight a job-killing depression is not to tighten the federal budget but to double down on expenditures. Whether we should spend on educational or more concrete forms of infrastructure (transportation, etc.) is up for debate, but we need to direct resources towards creating jobs, rather than keeping what little money exists in the hands of those who aren't spending. Our government is a more efficient creator of jobs than private enterprise!
