The Keystone pipeline will cause great harm to the environment in Canada and the United States, even if no accidents occur. If one does, it could be a disaster.
As well, it will bring expansion of the Alberta tar sands, which already pollutes lakes and rivers many miles from the mining site. First Nations people are adversely affected and forests are destroyed.
I understand the need for oil, but the sacrifice here is too great.
