In light of recent events in Israel, it has become apparent that despite decades of discussion and negotiation towards creation of a Palestinian state, that we have no partner with the current Likud regime in Israel. A Palestinian state will help create peace in the Middle East and is a direct priority of the United States. The United Nations recently voted in December 29, 2014 to create a Palestinian state and this was voted down with the aid of the United States. It is clear now that the only path to a Palestinian State is around Israel’s current regime. It is time for the United States to stand against the oppression of the Palestinian people and give its backing for a resolution within the United Nations to grant them the ability to determine their own destiny through statehood.
