Waiting period before victims of violent crime can be interviewed.

In the wake of violent crimes, news media often rush to the scene to capture footage and get eyewitness accounts. This information, directly or indirectly, helps to drive the public debate on issues such as gun control. Footage and interviews at the scene are often of people who are suffering serious emotional trauma. In the hurry to get the "scoop", incorrect information is sometimes reported as fact - which creates widespread confusion. It is time to consider a mandatory waiting period on interviewing victims and witnesses of violent crimes. Allow law enforcement to do its job and allow the victims/witnesses time to gather themselves before having to face the press.
