Thousands of Americans who are affected by the economic downturn and extended unemployment have been forced to withdraw funds from retirement savings. This circumstance requires the IRS to impose a 10% additional penalty upon the amount withdrawn in addition to the taxes that will be incurred at the time of withdrawal.
As the citizens who are forced to cash out retirement are more likely to be economically disadvantaged, this penalty is likely affecting the middle and lower class significantly more than the upper class.
Please help those who have unfortunately had to withdraw their retirement savings due to economic hardship by waiving the early withdrawal penalty.
