In virtually every state in the union, individual health plans, both on and off the exchanges, specifically exclude coverage for any portion of medically appropriate sexual reassignment services.
As a parent of a child with gender dysphoria, I refuse to purchase health insurance from a company that actively discriminates against my child. As a result, I will be required to pay a penalty for not doing business with an immoral corporation.
President Obama should mandate that all health insurance carriers include coverage for sexual reassignment medicines, medical procedures and emotional counseling related to the treatment of gender dysphoria.
