Social Security Disability states that a diagnosed terminally ill patient must wait the same amount of time, 5 to 6 months, as a non terminal disabled patient does before receiving any benefits he or she has paid in. This is not to diminish the importance of non terminal but to bring to light that only a limited amount of precious time is available to the diagnosed terminally ill. As a diagnosed terminally ill patient (cancer) I am unable to work, therefore any benefits I had are dryed up, no insurance coverage nor prescription coverage. Social Security is adamant there is no waivers and my representatives, Patrick Leahy, Bernie Sanders and Peter Welch all say "sorry, nothing we can do". Please sign to have waivers issued, you never know if or when your loved ones will need help.
