This petition is for special taxation only during war-time in order to pay for expenditures as they occur, or within the next fiscal year.
Proposed taxation is to be distributed at percentages equal to currect tax tables, with one important difference. Military Personel will pay no taxes during war-time. They are already doing thier part.
The reasoning for this petition is to pay-as-we-go, so to speak, and not add to the national debt. Of course war expenditures can not be accurately programmed, so appropriate tax increases may need to follow within the next fiscal year.
The war should not be the burden of the few hundred thousand military personnel. We all need to be involved and to do our part. During WWII the counrty was united, but this has not been the case since then.
