. It is beyond doubt that demand of Khalistan is based on religion.Extrimists says Pakistan for Muslims , India for Hindus then why not a homeland for Sikhs ? But if you closely study demography of Punjab you will be amazed to see that non-sikhs makes around 50% of population.These people doesn't support Khalistan. Apart from that majority of Sikh community is peaceful and patriot towards India.
