Election Day is one of the single most important days of the year for our nation. It is a day that culminates the arduous democratic process of the election year. The right to vote is something that was not always afforded to every American citizen and is something that our ancestors have fought for throughout our nation’s history. Still today, many Americans are forced to choose between providing a paycheck or exercising their right to vote. This holiday can heavily improve voter turnout by increasing national public interest. Election Day should be a federal holiday that celebrates a fundamental democratic freedom that can be truly accessible to all citizens.
