We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

We believe the Obama Administration should call on congress to abolish Mandatory Minimum Sentencing laws

Created by O.M. on September 29, 2016

Mandatory Minimum Sentencing laws cause a number of issues in our criminal justice system, including mass incarceration, excessive prison time and increased racial disparities in sentencing. By eliminating these laws, we would be inspiring the rehabilitation of criminals, because a more appropriate sentence might leave them with hope for the future. Additionally, I think we should establish maximum sentences for certain crimes, to avoid judges abusing their power.
