Most states tax all "tangible personal property" but make exceptions for select "necessities" (Groceries, food stamp purchases, medical purchases like over the counter medication and prosthetics, etc). Tampons aren't considered a necessity, therefore are not exempt from sales tax by 80% of state governments. Yet every woman who has ever gotten her period knows feminine hygiene products are part of being a woman, not a choice. We are asking the Obama Administration and Congress to acknowledge this problem and try to find a solution.
