Decades of failed attemtps to push and entice the Israelis and Palestinians to make a final peace -- the US has expended political resources and much goodwill in its efforts to arrive at a two-state solution. Over the past several years, the Palestinians on the West Bank have shown restraint and moderation in their dealings with the Israelis. But Netanyahu appears more interested in maintaining his PM position than he is in solving the problem. Far right members of his coalition even call for full annexation of the West Bank. That would be a catastrophe! Even the Iranians have signaled their readiness to recognize Israel and discuss normalization of relations if Israel and Palestine made peace. The time is now. Pressure must be brought to silence the extremists, and give peace a chance.
