We must beat our luxury yachts into makerspaces.

Created by P.S. on February 21, 2013

Our country is hurting economically and makerspaces, free public tinkering spaces, are our best hope for boosting ingenuity and creating new jobs. To fund the creation of 1,000 new makerspaces, let's ask some Americans with luxury yachts to sell them for this cause. Paul Allen’s 414 yacht, Octopus, is not used much. Laurene Powell Jobs is not using the luxury yachts her late husband Steve Jobs ordered. By the same token, sell the Gulfstream jet her husband used just a few times. 1,000 new makerspaces - two for each Congressional District, could help reinvent our country as a worldwide hub of tinkering and creativity. New employment is bound to flow from this. eBay might choose to wave seller’s fees for these so all proceeds go towards this public purpose. Let’s just ask these folks.
