The shootings in Santa Barbara, Newton, Colorado all involve youth who have mental health needs that we are not meeting. For those of us in brain health, we know that these youth have not received the best care they could have. When people ask me what is needed most, for my part, I know that we need much better screening done before psych meds are administered as freely as they are. Benzodiazepenes have horrific withdrawals enough to trigger psychoses in those at risk and create them where they might not have had to happen. We need to do a much better job screening which meds suit which condition even in Medicare system so other insurances follow suit. Allergy testing for reactions to psych meds also must be done prior to drug administration. Let's listen to Chris Martinez and do something
