We need more extensive background checks for gun ownership

As a country, it is necessary that we improve background checks on people that own guns, update registrations on people that have guns every year, and make sure that they still are mentally fit to own guns. In addition to this, a national baseline for gun control needs to be established that applies to every store that sells guns or ammunition. People with mental disabilities should not be able to purchase guns, along with people with past criminal records cannot obtain guns. That includes robbery, assault, rape, and murder. As a country, we must do everything in our power to prevent mass shootings from happening.
