The National Cancer Institute reports that compounds in cannabis inhibit or kill certain cancer cells in laboratory settings. Research studies in both the US and overseas indicate that the main compounds in cannabis may be effective as treatment for seizures, cancer, Alzheimers’ disease, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, nausea, side effects of chemotherapy, and many other conditions. A small scale study in Israel found cannabis to be effective on children with nausea related to chemotherapy, with no severe side effects.
