Due to the current way we nominate presidential candidates in the Democratic and Republican parties, we have ended up with most unfavorable nominees in US history: Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. When voters are only able to choose one candidate during their primaries and caucuses, it results in general election candidates that over half the electorate disapprove of. To help ensure this never happens again, we the people need a new system. Ranked-choice voting (RCV), where candidates are ranked by favorability and win office based on majority vote alone, will enable us to stop corrupt politicians and demagogues from reaching the ballot in November. Voters enjoy more choice in who they elect, and need not settle for undesirable leaders. It is time for the people to change how they vote.
