We the People ask the federal government to call on congress to act on the issue of the 1930s Mexican repatriation

Mexican repatriation occurred for nearly a decade after the Great Depression and was meant to cast out illegal immigrants from the U.S. While an estimated 2 million Mexicans were sent into Mexico, about 60% of those were actually U.S.-born citizens. This means that the U.S. was deporting its own citizens simply due to their ancestry. Aside from the risk of being deported from their own country, Mexican-Americans were also being blatantly discriminated against in their workforces as employers preferred hiring white Americans over them. The president should issue an apology and order a commission for investigation to be created. Following this, reparations and educational reform should be made in order to appropriately acknowledge and correct this national mistake.
