Privacy is a fundamental human right. Since the 9/11 attacks, the United States government agencies such as the NSA have been collecting information about millions of Americans, ranging from our phone records to our Internet activity allegedly to prevent other terror attacks. However, in 2013, a report from the White House review panel on NSA surveillance stated that there was no evidence that the mass collection of telephone call records and other types of surveillance by the agency had thwarted any terrorist attacks. Therefore, we the people ask the federal government to end mass surveillance programs that restrict our freedom of expression and our fundamental right to privacy and rely instead on targeted surveillance of suspected individuals.
