We the People ask the federal government to increase NASA's budget to the much needed 1% of the federal budget.

The space race gave humanity a plethora of benefits. It is the reason for modern technology. With NASA's current budget, it will take them 25 years to get to Mars, and that's being hopeful. By increasing NASA's budget, we will be able to get to Mars within 10 years. Planning to get to Mars in 25 years rather than 10 will ENSURE political failure. Developing technology to get humans to Mars will surely improve the human condition. We may create the new "internet," we may cure cancer, and we could ensure that humans won't go extinct by being a multi planetary species. Our understanding of science would explode and the benefits would FAR outweigh the costs, which is what happened after the Apollo Gemini and Mercury missions. How much would you pay for the universe?
