We the people ask the federal government to Tell us what the federal government is doing about an issue:

We the People ask the President to designate Standing Rock a National Monument

Created by D.A. on October 31, 2016

The Antiquities Act was passed to protect prehistoric Native American ruins and artifacts.

Currently, the project to build the Dakota Access Pipeline through Standing Rock, a sacred Native American burial ground, is being protested at the site. The pipeline will desecrate a Native American burial ground and heritage site, in addition to potentially contaminating the water used by the Sioux tribe in the reservation. We ask the President to use the power vested in him by the Antiquities Act to protect an integral part of American history and heritage, and designate Standing Rock a national monument.
