I believe that the federal government and the current or future president of the United States should convert the United States to the metric system for many reasons. One, it would teach children and teens about a much simpler and efficient system of measurement. Two, the United States is the only superpower to use the imperial system and this can confuse immigrants and emigrants alike. Thirdly, the metric system is much simpler because it's easy to know how many meters are in a kilometer: One thousand, because of the prefix 'kilo'. It's hard to know how many feet are in a yard because there are no prefixes. Do you know exactly how many yards are in a mile? It's hard to tell, because 1760 is difficult to remember compared to 1000.
