Boston Public Schools could fall short by as much as $50 million next year.
Last school year, 2014-2015, budget cuts led to the closing of two schools in Hyde Park. This year, the district has already identified $20 million to cut in central departments and investments.
The district will also reduce per-student funding for district high schools. District data shows Boston high schools will collectively absorb $7 million in cuts. And schools will receive less money for their students with autism or emotional impairments, who will have larger maximum class sizes as a result.
