We understand that the disclosure was against our short term national security goals in Iraq and Afghanistan.
However, as Manning is the citizen founder of the necessary and constructive classified material debate, we ask that his sentence be commuted by the President in the event that the courts give him an extended prison term.
Our democracy requires a vibrant and informed electorate. When the founders created the Constitution they did so with this idea in mind. The scope of national security operations should always be known by the electorate, so we can make rational decisions in the voting booth. The details should remain classified for effectiveness.
From a public display of the evidence, we believe that Bradley Manning shouldn't spend most of his life in prison.
