We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

We the people cordially request that the day of the Presidential Election be a national holiday.

Created by A.D. on December 23, 2016

The day of the Presidential Election occurs once every four years, and recognizing it as a national holiday will send a message that our nation and business leaders are serious about growing and embracing our democracy . A free society must take all steps not only to encourage voter participation, but also treat the election of leaders by the people, for the people as an event to be celebrated.

As Alexander Hamilton once said, “a share in the sovereignty of the state, which is exercised by the citizens at large, in voting at elections is one of the most important rights of the subject, and in a republic ought to stand foremost in the estimation of the law.”
