Why should those who responsible own or wish to responsible own assault weapons have to suffer for the few people that can't responsible own assault weapons. If anything need to happen with assault weapons we should put a regulation that makes it to where people cannot buy assault weapon on there first purchase and have to wait a year of responsibly owning a firearm such as a hunting rifle or pistol. This will give time for those that plan crazy crimes time to get past the issue in there life or time to where they can be noticed by the public as being unstable where he or she would then be unable to purchase assault weapon.
