Glaucoma is a degenerative disease that affects millions of Americans and there is a hope to control and cure this disease with the implementation of stem cells. There is opposition by the pharmaceutical and health care industries to prevent further research since it would impact their economic interests. Research seeking the cure for Glaucoma with stem cells has been more advanced in other countries; specially in Europe, and our American research labs have been limited due to the influence of lobbysts in the U.S. Congress who work for interest groups and not for the American people.
