WE THE PEOPLE should be allowed to write off the expense of our gym memberships, as well as other fitness-related activities, on our taxes.
Including physical activity in our daily routines has been proven to lessen the chance of contracting heart disease and diabetes, two major health issues that plague our nation and end up costing the government a substantial amount of money. The national cost of diabetes is $245 BILLION and has increased 41% in just the last five years. Heart disease is one of the most common killers in this country and costs about $109 BILLION. Anything that can promote a more healthy lifestyle benefits our citizens with longevity and benefits our government financially. So WE propose to offer an additional incentive on our tax bill.
