Companies based out of the United States that drill for oil in the Arctic regions of the globe are taking a huge risk when it comes to wildlife preservation and safety of species. The amount of cleanup involved in a spill in the Arctic is very little. Why? Because there is almost nothing that can be done in such cold and icy conditions to clean a spill.
The United States federal government needs to ban the drilling for oil in these fragile regions by our companies. Some already have plans to drill this calendar year in these regions. This ban would not only help preserve and keep wildlife in this region safe, but would move us forward in the planned Year of Action when it comes to depending less on oil and more on renewable sources. We encourage the administration to consider our proposal.
