In 2007, “836,699 veterans were suffering from mental illnesses” (Rand, 2011). Our veterans are the individuals who keep this country safe, so we should make their issues a national priority. We ask the president of the United States to introduce legislation to Congress that will provide benefits to veterans in regards to the increasing amount of mental health disorders. The legislation should include the following: provide veterans with quality doctors, medicine, tests, and therapies at no cost, fund research to deal with and prevent veteran mental health issues, and change the stance on global interventionism in order to prevent additional warfare.
