We petition the Obama Administration to adopt the Metric System as the standard unit of measurement in the United States

Created by M.M. on November 28, 2012

We petition the Obama Administration to adopt the Metric System as the standard unit of measurement in the United States for temperature, distance, volume and speed. The United States is the only industrialized country that does not use the metric system as its official system of measurement.

As global trade and international finance continue to grow, the cumbersome use of English measurements of miles, feet, and gallons, and the use of Fahrenheit for temperature, will become an impediment to free, open trade and economic growth.

To be truly compatible with world standards, the US should, over the next ten years, migrate towards an all-metric transportation, weather, machining, manufacturing and agriculture infrastructure- lowing barriers to trade and increasing jobs and growth.
