WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO: Allow Leashed Pets Access to All Outdoor Areas of National Parks

Created by J.T. on December 11, 2015

Please allow pet owners to be accompanied by their pets as they explore America's natural beauty.

Currently, most national parks do not permit pets far beyond roadways. However, there is no reason pets cannot join hiking. Those opposed claim domesticated animals disturb the wildlife. This is easily solved by the reasonable provision of using a leash at all times.

Some argue that pets create unsanitary conditions. As with any public area, owners should be required to clean up after their pets. Note that horses are permitted without any such sanitation requirements. Parks would not be considered responsible for any injured or missing animals.

Americans should be able to bring their four-legged family members with them to enjoy our country's beautiful scenery.
