We petition the Obama administration to ban everyone from hunting narwhals.

This is because the narwhal population is already decreasing based on major climate changes and being hunted for their tusks. If narwhals became extinct, this would affect the food chain.
One of the three reasons is why narwhals are being hunted down. Annamiticus comments that narwhals are usually only hunted for their tusks, the rest of the body parts are used for food, or discarded. “CITES trade data indicates that those figures have nearly doubled since then, with an average of 133 tusks exported each year between 2005 and 2009,”
Another reason is how the climate changes affect the narwhals. According to Defenders of Wildlife, narwhals are dying from major climate changes. “In addition, the narwhal’s habitat is threatened by the effects of climate change and pollution,”.
