Thanksgiving should be a time for people to spend with their families and enjoy at least one full day of rest and reflection. In recent years corporations have managed to destroy the intent of this holiday by forcing millions of retail employees to work earlier and earlier to the point where they often have to work on the holiday itself or work extra days the same week in order to maximize "Black Friday" floor coverage. The Federal Government should step in and force all non essential businesses to close on noon the day prior to Thanksgiving and not allow business to resume until at least 10 pm the day after. This will allow people to travel and enjoy at least one full day for the holiday.
