We the people that sign this petition believe that for too long the top 1% have been allowed to avoid paying their fair share, that this has harmed our nation, and prevented it from moving forward.
We reject the argument that even if we do raise taxes that it won't be enough to pay down the national debt, so we shouldn't bother doing it at all.
We reject the argument that this is a tax raise on the "job creators" that will cost us jobs. We understand that the middle class are the true creators of economic growth.
We petition our president to support the expiration of the Bush tax cut on the top 1% against all opposition, including Democratic opposition. We warn our president that he risks looking no better than Romney or Bush if he does not stand up on this issue.
