The Second Amendment's plain language and intent have been misinterpreted to allow unfettered access to lethal weapons of all kinds. Influential lobbyists have thwarted responsible regulation of gun ownership and have fostered rampant gun ownership. The Supreme Court has endorsed the erroneous view that the Second Amendment bars virtually any limitations on gun ownership and use. Repealing the Second Amendment would return the regulation of guns to the states and local government, just as other things that can harm people are regulated, such as automobiles, animals, and even toy guns. Repealing the Second Amendment would eliminate the rights that enable killers to arm themselves better than the police
