Software piracy is a growing issue in our country today. In 2011, software piracy was at 42%. This year, in 2012, it is up to 57%. This is an issue caused not by the people, but by the companies distributing this software.
Adobe Photoshop CS6 can be found on Amazon.com currently at the price of $559.98, Sony Vegas Pro 11 is at $419.94, and Avid Xpress Pro HD costs $1,695. Do these prices seem reasonable? To me, a teenager who doesn't come from a family of means, these prices are outrageous. Many people AREN'T willing to pay the legal prices for these programs, and it shows.
I say, if you want to see a decrease in software piracy, decrease the prices of your software. This will improve our economy, make these programs easier to obtain and learn, and increase revenue for these companies.
